Data from the National Database of Pantomime Performance reveals that Cinderella yet again takes the top spot for most produced pantomime title in 2016 with 49 productions, followed by Aladdin with 42 and Jack and the Beanstalk with 32. Fourth and fifth position go to Dick Whittington (26) and Snow White (25) in a reversal of last year’s ranking where Snow White pipped Dick Whittington to fourth position.
However, only five productions separate fourth and seventh place in what has become the Industry’s most evenly distributed season since records began.
Sleeping Beauty follows Snow White with 24 productions, with Beauty and the Beast rising from 10 productions in 2015 to 23 in 2016 – an increase of over 100%.
Rounding off the Top 10 is Peter Pan with 21 productions, Robin Hood with 6 production and in joint 10th Mother Goose and Sinbad the Sailor with 3 productions each.
